Public Apology (Excerpt), performance, 2015
I performed a composite text of various public apology speeches from figures of power, leaving out names and details. A sign language interpreter signed throughout the performance. Screen printed tote bags and T-Shirts reading "Kate Ruggeri Public Apology, 2015, Yale School of Art" were left for the audience to take.
Speech was roughly 10 minutes.
Audience members continue to wear and use bags and shirts publicly, and for this reason, I consider the performance to be ongoing.
